Chilliwack's only farm-based brewery.
There are only a handful of farm-based breweries in British Columbia, and even among those, very few grow their own barley because of the amount and type of land required. However, Farmhouse Brewing is doing just that on its 11.5-acre farm in the Greendale area of Chilliwack. Founded by a husband-and-wife team with three children who had previously operated a smaller hobby farm, the brewery is located in a custom-built facility with a tasting room, heated patio and outdoor picnic area. Even before opening, they harvested their first annual crop of barley to be used in the brewery.
Brewer Josh Rempel home brewed for a long time and then learned the professional side of the craft by studying at the Siebel Institute in Chicago and working at Field House Brewing in Abbotsford and Streetcar Brewing in North Vancouver. His beer lineup at Farmhouse features a solid mix of staple core beers with some seasonals mixed in from time to time.
The tasting room kitchen features artisan-style pizzas and pretzels baked in a Goliath Forno Bravo oven along with other appies and snacks. For dessert, how about beer marshmallows or enjoy a chocolate graham cracker s’more by the outside firepits.
Fun Fact
This is a family-friendly spot with lots of outdoor space where kids can play while parents are enjoying some samples and snacks. The tasting room also serves non-alcoholic apple cider and kombucha. Future plans include adding a playground and perhaps even some animals for kids to visit and pet.
