Port Moody

Back in 2014 it seemed like a quirky twist of fate when two breweries opened on the same street in a supposedly sleepy suburb. When a third brewery joined the original duo on Murray Street, folks began to take notice. Now with six unique operations on Brewers Row, beer lovers agree that Port Moody is anything but sleepy—it’s a destination.

This is likely the most densely concentrated grouping of breweries anywhere in Canada. It will only take you five minutes to stroll Brewers Row from end to end—but of course, you’ll want to stop at each of the breweries along the way.  You will find a range of approaches to brewing to suit everyone’s tastes—from beer beginners to hopheads,  barrel freaks, and sour seekers. They offer some food options, and all the breweries encourage you to visit the food trucks parked out front on Murray Street.

The first to open was Yellow Dog Brewing. The “leader of the pack” has a big tasting room along with an outdoor picnic area behind the brewery. Yellow Dog’s impressive beer lineup has also won this brewery many fans.

Moody Ales & Co, at the western end of Brewers Row, was the second brewery to open. Although its name implies a focus on ales exclusively, you will also find well-made lagers on tap. It has an open-concept tasting room along with a patio area out front that will keep you more than satisfied until you feel the need to stretch your legs.

Third, to open was Twin Sails Brewing, so named because its owners are twin brothers. It has become well known for its cutting-edge interpretations of hazy IPAs, sours, stouts, and other trendy beer styles—as well as it’s eye-catching can designs featuring catchy beer names and stylistic line drawings. 

Next up is the Parkside Brewery with a spacious tasting room and two big outdoor patios. Parkside’s beer lineup includes all styles, including some particularly tasty IPAs.
