Vancouver Urban is a facility of collaboration, innovation, and fermenting friendships.
The gorgeous building located in Railtown just east of Gastown, which dates back to 1923, is a former steel plant with enormous wooden doors and a soaring ceiling. It was sumptuously renovated into an open-plan dining concept lined with barrels and bathed in natural light.
This setting is home to the Vancouver Urban manufacturing collective (Vancouver Urban Winery, Van Urban Cider, and Van Urban Beer Co.), which produces beer, wine and cider in small batches, as well as the sister restaurant, Belgard Kitchen, which offers an assortment of high-end casual sharing plates, salads, bowls and sandwiches, and a show-stopping brunch, all emphasizing local produce. It’s a one-stop location you could spend many happy hours at.
The beer menu is a solid line-up of standards and seasonal specialties that is only available onsite or at Havana Vancouver, a well-known Commercial Drive restaurant with common ownership.
